"Fetch girl!" I cried as I threw my dog's tennis ball across the grass. Danni, my golden retriever puppy, barked and ran after the ball, her dog tags jingling. I smiled and laughed as she slid on her clumsy little paws when she tried to stop to grab the ball. She barked again and then picked up the ball and trotted over to me, showing off proudly that she had fetched the ball.
"Drop." I commanded sternly and she dropped it at my feet, wagging her tail happily. I smiled and praised her, "Good girl!" Danni barked and attempted to jump up on me, putting her front paws on my knees.
I scratched her behind the ears and gave her one of the treats I had brought for her. Danni took it gratefully and panted happily after she had eaten it.
It was a beautiful Saturday this fall. I was off of work for a few days and my parents were gone for the weekend. I had the house and our family dog to myself for a while. I had just graduated my fourth year of college last April, majoring in Musical and Theatrical Arts and Dance.
My parents never thought that my passion would ever be good for anything, but I proved them wrong when I got that scholarship for college. Now I work at the Trois Etoiles Studio for the Performing Arts. I teach a class of bubbly 10 year old girls there. They all love to sing, dance, and act.
I love each one of the girls equally, but my three favorites are Maxine, Lesley, and Alissa. They are a bouncy group of dancers with amazing talent. I love watching them dance because they put their heart and soul into their performances, even when we are just running through the dance. I organized a trio for them one year when I just had a summer job there and they have been doing a trio with each other each year ever since.
My name is Sara Kay Lindstrom and I live in the beautiful town of Oakland's Grove. It's small, but that's the best part. All the families in my neighborhood are so close and so we are practically one huge family.
(thread name inspired by this song- Only Fooling Myself by Kate Voegele. and i really want more modern, normalish human interaction than animal)
