Thistle stood at the entrance of the vast cave where his tribe lived. He flexed his claws and stretched his stiff shoulder muscles. His sister Amber was the leader of the Dry Creek County cats. Thistle preferred to call them the DCC cats. Looking behind him, he saw his friend Heather padding toward him. Heather dipped her head to him and meowed, "Good morning Thistle. Any sign of Masaki yet?" Thistle shook his head. "No, I'm afraid not." he said sadly. Masaki had been Thistle's best friend from the start, but when his mate died and his kits had grown into two-bees, Masaki had left. It had hurt Thistle so much. But with the duties of being a leader weighing heavily on his shoulders, he couldn't think about it much. "I'm sorry, Thistle. I was just thinking that maybe he came back, you know?" Heather mewed, sitting next to him. Thistle nodded and replied, "It's okay. I understand." "Go ahead and get some rest and eat. I'll take over." Heather offered. Thistle touched noses with her and murmured, "Thank you. For everything." Heather nodded slightly and mewed quietly, "Your welcome." Thistle padded away toward his den, leaving Heather alone to guard the camp with her thoughts about Thistle. |

OOC~ they live on a mountain so there are bears and mountain lions, foxes, animals that live on mountains... yeah.

(  predators, eh?) Solembum batted at a rather idiotic fly that landed right in front of him. The fly now looked sligtly crumpled, but otherwise still alive. |

Thistle picked a bird off the pile and sat down near the little waterfall to eat it.

Solembum quickly got bored with the fly. And seeing no company in the boulder littered field, he went in search of someone.

Heather turned her head for a second and said, "I relieved Thistle of his position for now. He needed to eat and rest." She turned back and stood in her place silently, watching the skies and the bushes.

The cat had got past her initial surprise at seeing Heather in Thistle's position, and said urgently, "our scouts have spotted a bear, too close for comfort."
"I am the joke master after all," Solembum grinned.
